A KISS FOR COUNTRY

Join multi platinum singer/songwriter Jewel as she and other Country Music artists help kiss domestic violence goodbye. Last year, Martina McBride, Wynonna, Reba McEntire, George Strait and many others helped raise funds and awareness with their star-studded kisses. Proceeds were added to the $12 million the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation has contributed to assist life-saving domestic violence shelters nationwide.

Jewel and Mary Kay Partner for Domestic Violence Shelter “Spruce Up!”

Mary Kay, The Official Beauty Sponsor of The 42nd Annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards, is partnering with multiplatinum singer/songwriter Jewel to “spruce up” the Morning Star Sanctuary, a domestic violence shelter in the Nashville area. The “Nashville Star” host, who just released her first Country Music album titled “Perfectly Clear,” is helping to raise awareness for domestic violence through her role as A Kiss for Country spokesperson. On the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 5, Jewel, along with Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants dressed in pink T-shirts, will “spruce up” the backyard area of the shelter.

The event serves to kick off the Mary Kay 2nd Annual A Kiss for Country philanthropic program in partnership with the Country Music Association – a kissable campaign dedicated to ending domestic violence through the powerful puckers of celebrities. A Kiss for Country asks celebrities and personalities to lend their lips to help “kiss domestic violence goodbye.” Through the auction of their lip prints and autographs on specially designed “Kiss Cards,” 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation’s (MKACF) programs committed to ending domestic violence. Last year, Mary Kay’s first A Kiss for Country initiative saw more than 30 Country Music Artists puckering up for the cause, from country legends like Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, George Strait and Wynonna to emerging talent such as Rodney Atkins, Miranda Lambert and Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland.

“With approximately one in three women affected by domestic violence at some point in her life, it’s not just a problem – it’s an epidemic,” said Karen Rogers, Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation Board Member and granddaughter of Mary Kay Ash. “Our goal is to continually give back to those who have survived domestic violence. This wonderful Morning Star Sanctuary ‘spruce up’ really helps to put the Foundation’s work in perspective.”
